Portfolio Sustainability Practices

At IC Hotels Green Palace & Villas, IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, IC Hotels Airport, and Çeşme Marina, water that needs to be discharged after backwashing through the ozmos treatment system is recovered and used for garden irrigation. In the pool machinery rooms, water from leaks is redirected to the balance tank with the help of a pump for reuse, and water-saving aerators are used in fixtures to conserve water. All detected water leaks within the hotel premises are repaired, and instead of area washing, mobile cleaning vehicles are used to minimize water usage.

With a vision of eco-friendly hotel management and tourism, IC Hotels Green Palace & Villas, IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, and IC Hotels Airport, which invested in soilless agriculture practices in 2021, reduce carbon emissions through on-site production philosophy. The crops needed are obtained using at least 90% less water compared to conventional farming practices. All garden irrigation systems in the hotels are automated, and water conservation is aimed by using timers. In 2022, IC Hotels, in partnership with its business partner Piks, sponsored the Sustainable Food Summit organized by the Sustainability Academy, discussing the benefits that can be achieved through soilless agriculture practices. The Soilless Agriculture Brand “Piks” has been awarded first place in the Best Innovative Sustainable Food category. Currently, 400,000 plants per year are being cultivated, with these products being used in hotel kitchens as well as being offered for sale.

IC Hotels Green Palace & Villas and IC Hotels Santai Family Resort are located in areas that need to be protected for biodiversity management due to the variety of plant and animal species they host.

On the beach of IC Hotels Green Palace&Villas, there are sand lilies, which are endangered species and have been protected by the International Union for Conservation of Nature since 2016. To prevent any harm to the sand lilies, the entire team at IC Hotels Green Palace&Villas receives training in line with the hotel's Environmental Policy. The beaches of IC Hotels Green Palace&Villas and IC Hotels Santai also host nests of the loggerhead turtles (caretta caretta), which are meticulously protected. Particularly, the teams working in the coastal area are regularly informed through periodic reminder training sessions about loggerhead turtles and sand lilies within the framework of the Blue Flag criteria. In addition to the staff, hotel guests are also informed through informational panels located in various parts of the facility and panels placed near the specially fenced areas protecting the sand lilies. In the gardens of IC Hotels Green Palace&Villas and IC Hotels Santai, there is the relict endemic plant, the Serik pear (pyrus serikensis), found only in Belek in the world.

All this vegetation and natural habitats are meticulously protected with taken measures, fulfilling responsibilities towards the environment and society, and aiming to leave a positive and protected legacy for future generations.

All the hotels in the Company's portfolio have the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.

IC Hotels Santai Family Resort and IC Hotels Airport have switched to an ionizer disinfectant system for indoor pools, reducing the use of chlorine and decreasing the rate of chemical usage.

All hotel investments in the Company's portfolio and Çeşme Marina have the Zero Waste Certificate. Continuous training on waste separation is provided to increase staff awareness.

At IC Hotels Green Palace&Villas and IC Santai Family Resort, organic plant residues resulting from garden maintenance, along with organic vegetable and fruit waste from the hotel kitchens, are being transformed into compost fertilizer. This compost is used for growing flowering plants and indoor potted plants in designated areas. In future periods, it is planned to utilize the fertilizer obtained from these wastes at IC Hotels Airport as well, contributing to the economy.

As part of reducing plastic usage, the portfolio's hotels in Antalya have bid farewell to 9 different products ranging from slipper bags to laundry bags, from PET bottle sodas to disposable cutlery. This not only enhances guest comfort but also protects the future of our seas.

At IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, weekly programs include recycling workshops in the kids' club, and activities in the hotel garden where children can plant flowers and other plants. Additionally, sustainability activities have been conducted with the students of Serik Aşağı Kocayatak Primary School as part of the "Love, Protect, and Sustain Project."

Food waste from the restaurant and staff cafeteria at the Istanbul Hilton Bomonti Hotel and Conference Center is donated to the Kurtaran Ev Barınağı. In 2024, in collaboration with UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and Winnow Smart Kitchen Technology for Commercial Food Waste, the "Green Ramadan" program was conducted to reduce food waste. Throughout the month of Ramadan, the focus was on zero waste and the use of local resources, and a carbon-neutral event announcement was made in collaboration with ClimeCo to reduce the environmental impact of group iftar gatherings.

Within the scope of the "Compost Project" carried out at Çeşme Marina, organic plant waste generated from periodic garden maintenance, along with organic vegetable and fruit waste from boutique hotels and businesses, is being transformed into compost fertilizer and used in the marina's landscaping. The fertilizer obtained from household and organic waste increases soil fertility and reduces the amount of waste generated through a zero-waste model. Additionally, through the volunteers of the HAYTAP Federation, leftover food from stakeholders in the commercial area of Çeşme Marina is being delivered to stray animals in shelters.

For IC Hotels Green Palace & Villas, IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, IC Hotels Airport, and Çeşme Marina,  GHG Protocol-compliant Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have begun to be calculated and reported starting from the base year of 2022, as determined by IC Holding for all group companies.

IC Hotels Green Palace & Villas, IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, and IC Hotels Airport have a total of 6 electric charging units available, providing charging facilities for both in-house and external use electric vehicles for hotel guests. These initiatives are part of the hotels' efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmentally friendly practices.

In 2023, the IC Hotels Breast Cancer Screening Project was conducted to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8, "Decent Work and Economic Growth." IC Hotels has completed the "Breast Cancer Awareness Project" as part of its sustainability efforts, with the participation of IC İçtur, a company of IC Holding Group. The project, planned in three stages, began its first phase by gathering female employees aged 40 and over to initiate the process. In the second stage, awareness seminars were organized for all female employees with the participation of specialist doctors from a contracted hospital, focusing on increasing awareness about breast cancer, its symptoms, early diagnosis, and treatment methods. The seminars were attended by 259 female employees. In the final stage, with the support of the Provincial Health Directorate, a total of 136 cancer screening examinations, including mammography and smear tests, were conducted in a health truck visiting the hotels, reaching out to female employees.

Istanbul Hilton Bomonti Hotel and Conference Center conducts various activities under the umbrella of social responsibility, both in-house and in collaboration with various NGOs. These activities include running projects and organizing awareness events. The center also hosts these events, and the TDSD Dance+1 by Hilton Bomonti Team participates in some of them. As part of these activities, Istanbul Hilton Bomonti Hotel and Conference Center has received several awards including the Tohum Otizm Vakfı/Volunteer Institution Award, the Türkiye Down Sendromu Derneği/Award for the Company Creating the Most Supported Employment, and the Make A Wish/Inspiring Project Award.

During the harvest of olive trees in Antalya hotels, events are organized in which guests can participate, and the collected olives are used both in the hotel buffets and processed into olive oil, which is then gifted to the guests.

In terms of customer satisfaction, the satisfaction of all customer segments is prioritized without any discrimination, and as part of the expansion of the facilities offered, the number of disabled lifts in the pools has been increased by adding more.
