Global and national sustainability developments, along with the international agreements Turkey has signed, mean much more to IC Holding than simply legislative changes. IC Holding and its Group Companies closely monitor regulatory changes and industry practices related to sustainability, take swift action to meet necessary obligations, and undertake pioneering projects in the sectors in which they operate.
IC Holding and all its affiliated companies embrace a responsible business approach and carry out sustainability efforts accordingly. The Group Companies' environmental, social, and governance efforts are centralized under the umbrella of IC Holding as part of the “Impact of Development” strategy. The strategy's ongoing process aims to deepen the Holding's focus on sectors with distinct dynamics. 2023 was the year for completion of deepening efforts in the construction and tourism sectors, while 2024 was the year for the completion of deepening efforts in the infrastructure and energy sectors, with sector-specific action maps being developed. The final step of the strategy is targeted as localization. Sustainability at the Holding is managed by the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Directorate, which reports directly to the CEO.
For IC Holding, sustainability is viewed as an integral part of corporate governance, and the goal is to implement all priorities and principles identified within this framework with the participation of Group Companies and their employees.
IC Holding aims to contribute to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in all activities of its Group Companies through its Sustainability Policy, which is focused on the sustainability strategy it has defined as "Impact of Development." IC Holding is a signatory to the UN Global Compact and the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
SDG Focuses & IC GYO Priorities
As a result of its prioritization and gap analysis, IC Holding has identified SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 13 Climate Action, and SDG 9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on which it will focus. All Group Companies, including IC GYO, are required to comply with the relevant SDGs and conduct work in these areas.
IC GYO carries out activities in line with IC Holding’s “Impact of Development” sustainability strategy, and priority sustainability issues were determined through the “Sustainability Priorities Analysis” study conducted in 2023, which includes the Company’s tourism investments: IC Hotels Green Palace & Villas, IC Hotels Santai Family Resort, IC Hotels Airport and Çeşme Marina.
SDG Roadmap
Following the prioritization analysis, the highest-priority sustainability issues were identified as Employee Rights and Satisfaction, Customer Satisfaction and Service Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, Building Safety, Waste Management and Circular Economy, and Contribution to the Local Economy and Employment. In addition to SDGs 5, 8, 9, and 13, which were prioritized for IC Holding, the analysis also linked to the high-priority issues identified for IC Tourism Group to SDGs 12: Responsible Production and Consumption and SDG 14: Life Below Water.
Currently, SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 Responsible Production and Consumption, SDG 13 Climate Action and SDG 14 Life Below Water stand out as the goals that IC GYO will focus on and aim to contribute to within the scope of its activities.
